During the infants first year there will be great changes occurring. Infants are unique, and they will grow and develop at their own rate and pace in their own way.

Infants have their own awake/sleep cycle, their own preference for how they like to be held, as well as their own preferences for interaction with you and others.

The way infants use their senses will vary and this is when they will begin to make sounds or words.

Features: Help infants to learn through all of their senses, while providing a safe environment where they can explore and learn.

Provide a curriculum that offers a variety of experiences for the infants’ developmental age, such as play, physical development, language, sensory, exploration, and social/emotional development. Provide a great deal of affection to ensure that the infants’ needs are met.

Each day you will receive an evaluation of your child so that you are kept updated on how and what they did, as well as how much they ate and what their mood was like.

Storybook School helps your toddler learn!

Our one year olds are split into two groups, one group of two teachers and 12 children and another classroom with one teacher and 6 children.

In our first toddler room we have our new one year olds. In this room they are transitioning from the infant room to the toddler room they are learning how to interact with each other and how to start using their fine and gross motor skills.

Our lead teacher has her CDA, 45 state mandated hours and CPR training. In our second one year old classroom we have two teachers who have their 45 stated mandated hours and CPR certified. They work together in teaching their older toddlers how to socialize and use their creative minds.

When a parent first walks into this classroom they will notice the amazing artwork done by one of our own teachers, who enjoys art and painting. They have created a fun and safe learning environment for the children.

Our amazing teachers encourage your child!

Many changes happen to your child during this year of life. Some are easy to see, whereas others are harder to spot.

Two year olds are concerned about what is theirs and what belongs to others as they go through the “mine” stage. Lots of learning takes place through interaction and conflict with peers.

Features:

A lot of nurturing, playtime and learning throughout the day. A curriculum that offers a variety of experiences, such as dramatic play, creative arts, language and development, and sensory exploration.

Encourage self-help skills such as hand washing, dressing, brushing teeth, and much more.

Each day you will receive an evaluation of your child so that you are kept updated on how and what they did, as well as how much they ate and what their mood was like.

Help the child develop confidence, self-esteem and a love of learning. Open lines of communication between parents and teachers so that the learning line remains constant.

Preschoolers are eager to learn. As their language skills improve, so does their need to talk to someone constantly.

A preschooler’s world opens up in all kinds of new ways as the child improves coordination, learns complex games, and begins to interact more with their friends.

Storybook School provides a classroom environment for three year olds where children are encouraged to explore and are challenged to learn, while making friends and developing self-confidence. We believe that children learn best by doing. This is why we provide a variety of hands-on experiences for them.

Features: Developmentally appropriate curriculum that encourages creativity and independence.

Language experiences that support literacy and language development.

Math and Science skills developed with hands on experiences.

Open lines of communication between parents and teachers so that the learning environment is consistent.

Pre-Kindergarten helps to ensure that a child is intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially ready to enter elementary school.

Storybook School helps children prepare for kindergarten by providing a structured and organized learning environment. The primary focus through the pre- Kindergarten level is on enhancing social skills such as sharing, listening and cooperation.

Features:

Learning vocabulary, letters, words and literacy skills. Math and cognitive skills such as sorting and spatial concepts.

Maintain a variety of hands on experiences.

Large and small group experiences that focus on social skills.

Help in the development of school readiness skills. Developmentally appropriate curriculum that encourages creativity and independence.

Open lines of communication between parents and teachers so that the child’s learning environment is consistent.

Homework help is included at Storybook School!

In our Eagles After School program, we provide transportation to and from local elementary schools such as Landcaster, Winegard, Pinecastle, Cornerstone, Palmetto, Millennia, Shingle Creek, and Saddler.

Help is also be provided to any children with homework. This will give the children the opportunity to enjoy more family time at the home.

All summer field trips will be for our after school age program (ages 5-12).

ACTIVITIES

Our School works hard to stay posted on the most up-to-date teaching methods; however, we also maintain basic methods which we believe nurture a child’s learning. Our methods are exemplified in the engaging and educational activities we do with the children.

Your child will learn from doing activities such as:

Lots of fun places to play and explore!

  • Art
  • Science
  • Movement
  • Music
  • Outdoor play
  • Sense-related activities (smell, sight, feel)
